SITUATION

  • Runner at First Base, No Outs

OBJECTIVE

  • To catch an over-aggressive baserunner with too big of a secondary lead.

PITCHER

Gets the sign from the catcher and then delivers a chest high fast ball on the outside part of the plate.

CATCHER

Makes sure the pitcher knows the play is on and wants a chest high fast ball away.

SECOND BASEMAN

When the hitter turns to bunt, you must cheat a few steps towards first base in order to get behind the runner for the pick-off play at first base. The play will happen very quickly as the catcher will not hesitate to throw to first base.

SHORTSTOP

Holds position and prepares for a rundown.

THIRD BASEMAN

Execute a normal bunt play situation.

FIRST BASEMAN

Execute a normal charge play so the runner will get more of a secondary lead/break early.
