SITUATION

Single to Right Field (Between First and Second Basemen) - Runners on First and Second, or Bases Loaded

OBJECTIVES

Minimize base advancement and possible runs scored.

PITCHER:

Starts to cover first base; when the ball gets through, retreat to be the cut-off man, or back up home plate.

CATCHER:

Covers home plate.

1ST BASEMAN:

When you can¹t field the ball, go on and cover second.

2ND BASEMAN:

When you can¹t field the ball, go on and cover first.

SHORTSTOP:

Cut-off man for a possible throw to third base.

3RD BASEMAN:

Covers third base.

LEFT FIELDER:

Moves into area behind third to help back up.

CENTER FIELDER:

Backs up the right fielder.

IN THIS SITUATION, THE FIRST AND SECOND BASEMEN -MUST- COMMUNICATE. SOMEONE MUST BE THE CUT-OFF MAN!
